DESCRIPTION:The European Horizon2020 research project E-DYCE\, in collaboration with the Nicosia Municipality\, is organizing two (2) guided tours to discover bioclimatic architectural strategies applied to buildings to reduce energy consumption\, and to urban space to mitigate the heat island phenomenon. \nIn the first guided tour\, participants will discover the bioclimatic principles of the new Nicosia Town Hall. The visit planned to last 1.5 hours approximately\, will be guided by the project architect Mr. Richard Dickon Irwin and by the building and urban space physicist Dr. Flourentzos Flourentzou\, to explain the design principles: natural ventilation\, solar shading\, choice of colours\, natural light\, cooling techniques in summer and solar gains in winter\, exposed thermal mass to reduce energy consumption. \nThe participation list will be closed according to the priority of the first thirty (30) registered persons. Participation of one (1) person per registration will be strictly adhered to. \nAfter the thirty (30) registrations have been completed\, any additional persons wishing to participate may send an email to the Program (to be found at the end of each webpage of this site). They shall be timely informed if such event will be held again in the future\, and they will have priority to participate to that. \nYou are kindly expected to press accordingly hereafter the following buttons to complete your registration: \n\nPress “submit” under “Terms of Use” after you have read and /or agreed with the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy of this website\nYou may Add to (your) Calendar the Event\, if you maintain a Google Calendar\, or you may skip this\nYou may press the button “Going” under “RSVP Here” to open your registration form\nYou fill in your details there and press “Finish” to successfully end\, or “Cancel”\nYou will receive a confirmation email in your email address\n\n  \nThis project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 893945. \n \nTerms of Use | Privacy Policy \nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Terms of UseBy using this form you agree with the storage and handling of the your personal data by this website in accordance to its Terms of Use and Privacy PolicySubmit

Moreover\, a very fruitful and in-depth assessment on the future work planning and the upcoming activities during project’s critical final year\, took place. \nWe were pleased that 4 members of project’s Advisory Board joined the meeting providing their valuable thoughts and recommendations. Ms. Tine Steen Larsen\, Mr. Nikos Hadjinicolaou and Mr. Savvas Valchos participated in person\, whilst Mr. Claude-Alain Roulet participated on-line. \nInitially\, our coordinator Prof. Michal Pomianowski from AAU presented the status of the project\, together with the co-coordinator Asst. Prof. Giacomo Chiesa from POLITO. \nAfterwards\, the WP & Task leaders presented the ongoing work\, as well as the description of next semester planned actions. The consortium assessed the results achieved so far\, and the partners exchanged ideas on how to address the major challenges of the project. \nA brief description of the work and the upcoming activity for each WP is following below. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n  \n \n \n  \nDuring the second day an important workshop took place were the value proposition of 4 different personas (authorities\, public administrators\, building owners and EPC experts\, was identified. \n  \n \n \n  \nFinally\, E-DYCE project in collaboration with the Nicosia Municipality\, organized two (2) guided tours to discover bioclimatic architectural strategies applied to buildings to reduce energy consumption\, and to urban space to mitigate the “heat island” phenomenon. The tours were also open to the public. \n  \n \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Plenary and Steering Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:On September 23rd and 24th 2021\, the partners’ consortium of E-DYCE had a plenary and its third (3rd)  Steering Committee Meeting. \nThe sessions went hybrid\, both by physical presence of representatives as well as online for those partners having their travel to Aalborg\, Denmark impeded\, because of COVID-19 restrictions. The meetings were hosted by project coordinator Aalborg University and led by Assistant Professor Michal Zbigniew Pomianowski. \n  \nMost of the partners arrived during the previous day\, so a warm welcome was organized by the host\, where partners met face to face after a year of just online and written communication. The fruitful exchange of views and opinions and about the progress in project affaires started early\, in a very friendly atmosphere. Next day was the official opening of the Meetings distributed in two days’ consecutive sessions\, where the work package leaders would provide plentiful summaries on the work done during the second semester of the project. \n  \nThe meetings were initiated by a general overview and setting the scene by the coordinator and the technical manager of the project. Then the discussion of WP2 “Data modelling and project design” was held mainly on how to consolidate research done and additional inputs as smart metering\, in the Information Model developed and about its evolvement. \nAfter a short break\, the WP3 “Simulation and Optimization Enablers” came into the scene to discuss on the methods used and the modelling and integration of the various modes needed to be adapted in the calculations. A workshop followed for partners to debate on their research and achievements. A lunch followed for some rest and more discussions. \n  \nThe afternoon’s session was devoted first to WP5 “DEPC Demonstrations” to inform partners on progress made with the installation of sensors\, collection of data and the general monitoring of the various sites and buildings used in project research. Then WP4 “Extended functionalities and DEPC validation” was brought forward to discuss on technical issues regarding verification of models and simulations used. After its closing a second workshop was held on issues encountered with data monitoring\, methodologies used and solutions envisaged; it was agreed that the discussion would be continued early next day. \n  \nThe second and last day started with the pre-agreed review of few of the most important conclusions drawn in the previous day. Clarifications were provided and minor adjustments were made\, whilst it was agreed that few of the issues would be transferred to cross-workpackage virtual conferences\, to be held very soon. The last session of the plenary meetings was dedicated to WP6 “Dissemination\, exploitation and communication” to discuss on the follow up of the dissemination strategy developed\, the enhancement of communication and a short accounting of the so-far accomplishments; a discussion was held on how to encourage a more active participation of all partners in the pertinent activities\, during the second year of project. The first overview of the exploitation strategy was also provided and discussed. \nThe plenary meeting was closed\, with a quick review of all accomplishments during the two days’ sessions and celebratory photos of the aggregation were taken. The appointed representatives of the partners continued to the planned project’s Third (3rd) Steering Committee Meeting\, after a short break.
